The outer tie rod is what attaches the steering knuckle to the rack and pinion. This is one of the most common problems with our beloved Mustangs. To check these for wear jack up the front to where the tires are off the ground. Grab the tire at the front and back and shake. If the tire wobbles at all you have either a bad inner or outer tie rod. Chances are both are bad. Tie rods are the same for left or right side. Must have a wheel alignment done after tie rod installation.
